From the time he was about six years old, Tom Toth, the founder of CABCO, knew some day he would own and operate his own business. In 1978, this life long dream was realized and CABCO began on a card table in the family room of the Toth's Irwin, PA home.
To realize his dream, Tom had to depend heavily on his wife, Anita, daughter, Lisa (then 13 years old) and son, Tom (then 9 years old).
"Whatever It Takes", that was the attitude that converted the dream to reality.
CABCO's first customer was Ocenco, Inc. a Blairsville, Pennsylvania company that made underground mine lighting. A miner's strike in 1978 made it imperative that CABCO broaden its customer base. In the fall of 1978, CABCO became the exclusive custom data cable supplier for Expandor, a company that would later change its' name to Black Box. This relationship lasted for several years until Black Box was sold, and the cable assemblies brought inside.
CABCO moved from the Toth family room to 500 Pennsylvania Avenue in Irwin, PA and eventually in 1986 built its permanent address at 1538 Arona Road in Irwin, PA.
